Abdul's Announces New Book: Healing Politics
Throughout my campaign for Governor, as I met with folks across the state, you all shared with me your stories. The challenges you face and the things you wanted government to finally get right.
As I learned from you, I found that, beyond the individual issues we all face—unaffordable healthcare, unequal education, broken infrastructure, and a rigged economy—our politics, itself, is sick.
I wanted to apply my skills as an epidemiologist to answer why.
So over the last year, I’ve been working on a book that I’m proud to announce today: "Healing Politics: A Doctor’s Journey Into the Heart of a Political Epidemic."
It’s my personal story interwoven with history, science, and, of course, the lessons you all taught me on the campaign trail. But, most of all, it’s a diagnosis of the underlying epidemic I believe our country is facing right now, an epidemic of insecurity. In "Healing Politics," I lay out how, together, we can heal this epidemic and the consequences it has had for us all by building on the empathy that draws us together.
Writing this book has been a labor of my love that I hope is some small compensation for all the love you’ve shown me. I hope it can elevate the stories you’ve shared with me, the work we’ve done together, and, most importantly, the vision we share for a more just and equitable future.
